President Donald Trump slammed Elon Musk as ‘the man who has lost his mind’ during a phone call with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, and gave insight on a potential truce following an ugly public spat that broke out into public view.
On Thursday, Trump said that Musk had “gone crazy” and suggested Musk should no longer benefit from billion-dollar federal contracts and government subsidies. In return, Musk agreed with a social media post suggesting Trump be impeached and, even worse, claimed that the reason why the “Epstein Files” have not been released is to cover up the fact that Trump’s name is featured in them.
Karl, who has had enjoyed great access with Trump despite some tough reporting, revealed a phone conversation Friday morning with the commander-in-chief via social media amid numerous reports of a scheduled meeting or phone call between Trump and Musk planned for Friday, ostensibly designed to tamp down tensions.
Trump reportedly referred to Musk as “the man who has lost his mind,” reiterating his Thursday attack that the richest man in the world, and now-former political ally, has gone “crazy.” Karl also reported that “Trump did not, however, seem angry or even concerned about the feud.”
“As for reports that there is going to be a Trump/Musk call scheduled for today, Trump told me he is ‘not particularly’ interested in talking to Musk, although he says Musk wants to talk to him,” Karl added.
Politico reported late Thursday that a meeting or call between the two was planned for Friday, a report later confirmed by Reuters, though Karl’s report surely raises questions about whether a call or meeting will actually take place.
