Joe Rogan Says He Loves Living in Blue Austin As Long As It’s Surrounded By Texas Red

It seems like a good bet Joe Rogan will not be voting for James Talarico (D).

The podcast star-turned-Texan said he does not want The Lone Star state to be controlled by Democrats on the Tuesday episode of his show.

“The liberals who want to turn Texas Blue, like, don’tttt,” Rogan pleaded. “You’re going to ruin it. You’re going to ruin it for you, too.”

He told guest his guest, Animal Planet star Forrest Galante, the liberals in Texas are “way less crazy” than those in Los Angeles or New York. But he said would still prefer Texas stay Red, and only have a few dashes of Blue mixed in.

“There’s a saying about Austin: Keep Austin Weird and Surrounded,'” Rogan said.

Galante asked what he meant by “surrounded.”

“Surrounded by red people,” Rogan explained. “Like, it’s all Red states around you and it’s this pocket of Blue that’s in the center of this Red state. I think that’s good for everybody. I think that’s good, it’s a balance.”

But a fair amount of Texans don’t agree with him, apparently. A new poll showed Talarico — a Democratic state representative — has a five-point lead on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in the state’s Senate race.

Rogan can relax a bit, even if Talarico wins. The state’s other Senate seat will still be held by Ted Cruz (R) until the end of 2030, and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has a lead in the gubernatorial race in all 17 polls tracked by The New York Times. So the Blue revolution appears unlikely, at least for another few years.

Rogan continued by saying Austin is a great place to live because it’s a “liberal city surrounded by like hardcore Republicans with guns and tigers!”

“And it works!” Galante chimed in.

“It works!” Rogan echoed. “It makes for nice people, it’s a good mix.”
