Fox Anchor Predicts John Fetterman Could ‘Become the Most Powerful Politician in America’
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) could be something of a Lindsey Graham-esque figure for establishment Democrats, said Bill Hemmer, host of Fox’s America’s Newroom ahead of the late Senator’s Tuesday funeral.
“Eleven years ago, Lindsey Graham didn’t have much time for Donald Trump. He said in an interview on CNN, he said, ‘You know how to make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell,'” Hemmer said as he spotted Fetterman at the memorial. “That was 2015.”
But Graham obviously changed his tune.
“This past month, 11 years later, when he won his primaries in South Carolina, vanquished four or five others with about 60% of the vote, he said ‘Mr. President, you’re not far behind God.’ That was the range Lindsey Graham had. I was thinking in this conversation about was, was Washington moving forward and finding common ground, and obviously Lindsey Graham can find it, but he had deep convictions.”
“I was looking at John Fetterman in that audience there as well,” Hemmer continued.
“Here’s a guy who was voted 93% of the time with Democrats, all right? But Israel is his red line. When his party continues to abandon what’s happening with the Israeli government and vote against aid to Israel, he says he will leave the party.”
“If you looked at the current setup of the Senate for this midterm race, you could be looking at a 50/50 finish,” Hemmer noted.
“If John Fetterman were to leave the Democratic Party and become an Independent, he would be the most powerful politician in America because of his singular vote. It hasn’t been that way in 25 years.”
Earlier this month Fetterman threatened to leave the Democratic Party if it ever becomes the “anti-Israel party.”
“If our party ever becomes — and just makes it official — the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me,” he said.
