Markwayne Mullin Grumbles About ‘Shameful’ Networks Not Carrying Trump’s Election Speech
Homeland Security chief Markwayne Mullin publicly complained about two networks that refused to carry President Donald Trump’s Thursday night speech about elections.
Mullin spoke out as he faced reporters on Friday morning in Washington, D.C., to expand upon election integrity after Trump’s prime-time speech to the nation the night before.
At one point, Mullin opted to scold the two networks that refused to cover the speech: ABC and NBC.
“How shameful is that?” Mullin said of the networks, before asking if CBS had joined them. “Why? What are they trying to cover up? Why wouldn’t they want to inform the American people? Why are they calling themselves a news outlet if they’re not actually trying to put the news out there?”
He went on: “I think the question really should say why? Because they sure covered the other part of it when they were saying that it was the most secure election ever. What facts did they have? Because they didn’t have facts, they were taking someone’s word for it. President Trump gave facts.”

“Let’s talk about the major networks not willing to carry the President of the United States’ address to the nation on election security. How shameful is that? I think it was ABC, NBC, and I don’t know if CBS- Did CBS carry it, anybody? CBS carried it, so ABC and NBC not carrying that? Why? What are they trying to cover up? Why wouldn’t they want to inform the American people? Why are they calling themselves a news outlet if they’re not actually trying to put the news out there? We weren’t giving spin on the election. The president wasn’t trying to relitigate what happened in 2020, although we definitely could at this point. The president’s giving facts, what we have exposed, what the Biden administration covered up. What the intelligence community held from with the, from the American People, Congress, and the executive branch and we’re putting it out there. And yet two major networks didn’t want to cover it? I think the question really should say why? Because they sure covered the other part of it when they were saying that it was the most secure election ever. What facts did they have? Because they didn’t have facts, they were taking someone’s word for it. President Trump gave facts.
Ironically, most of the major cable news networks, including Fox News, MS NOW, and CNN, did not take Mullin’s speech live.
Trump’s speech the night before was hit with a heap of fact–checking from several news organizations.
Fox News carried the full speech. But when it was over, chief political anchor Bret Baier said the network was “not in a position to evaluate the accuracy of the president’s statements and claims.”
The following morning, Fox & Friends did not cover one minute of the speech in the three-hour show.
