Reporter Tees Up Trump for Rosie O’Donnell Insult By Asking Ireland’s PM Why He Would ‘Let’ Her Move To His Country

President Donald Trump took an opportunity to take a dig at Rosie O’Donnell after a reporter asked Ireland’s prime minister why he would “let” the actress and vocal Trump critic move to his country.

O’Donnell revealed this week that she packed up and moved to Ireland just days before Trump’s inauguration, saying she did so for her “sanity.” The two have exchanged insults all the way back to 2006. O’Donnell said won’t consider a move back to the United States until “it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there.”

During a Wednesday meeting at the White House between Trump and Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Micheál Martin, Real America’s Voice White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked whether O’Donnell will bring down Ireland’s happiness level.

Glenn also made waves and received pushback from Trump critics for asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky why he was not wearing a suit during his Trump White House meeting.

“Ireland is known for its very happy, fun-loving people. Great attitude, many of them in this room right now that I’ve met. Why in the world would you let Rosie O’Donnell move to Ireland? I think she is going to lower your happiness level,” Glenn asked.

“Thank you,” Trump said as Martin laughed. “I like that question.”

Martin appeared stumped as Trump asked whether he was aware O’Donnell had fled to his country. O’Donnell said she is currently in the process of applying for Irish citizenship.

“Do you know you have Rosie O’Donnell? Do you know who she is?” Trump asked a confused Martin.

Glenn could be heard saying he was making a joke as Trump told Martin, “You’re better off not knowing.”

Much of Trump and O’Donnell’s feuding has come down to politics, but the rivalry-of-sorts stems all the way back to 2006 when then-View co-host O’Donnell pressed Trump to be more lenient on a Miss USA winner after her drug use was revealed. She ultimately kept her crown, but Trump called O’Donnell a “loser” afterwards.

During a 2015 presidential debate, Trump seemingly reignited the feud by taking a personal shot at O’Donnell after then-Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked about his comments about women.

“You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ ‘slobs,’ and ‘disgusting animals,’” Kelly said as Trump jumped in.

“Only Rosie O’Donnell,” he said.
