‘That Is Unbelievable!’ CNN’s Jim Acosta Stunned By Uvalde Parent’s Revelation Cops Are ‘Harassing’ Families

CNN anchor Jim Acosta was stunned when Uvalde parent Miguel Cerrillo revealed local cops are “harassing” families of children who were affected by the massacre.

On Thursday, the Justice Department released its report on the police response to the May 2022 massacre at Robb Elementary School that killed 19 students and two teachers. It was a gut-wrenching examination of a disastrous event that was compounded by failure after failure.

Acosta interviewed Cerrillo on the live streaming channel CNN Max Friday morning, and in an emotional interview learned of even more disturbing behavior:

JIM ACOSTA: His daughter Mia survived the massacre at Robb Elementary. Mia was in the classroom where the shooter opened fire and managed to call 911.

Miguel, thank you so much for being here with us this morning. I guess I do want to ask you about the report and, your response to it, but I guess, first of all, how is Mia doing?

MIGUEL CERRILLO: We had a hard night last night. That’s why she’s not joining us today. She literally just fell asleep, like, maybe an hour ago. And it’s an everyday thing, you know, we literally live right across the street from Robb Elementary. So it takes a toll on her every day.

JIM ACOSTA: You’re right across the street.

MIGUEL CERRILLO: Yes, we we literally, literally live right behind Robb Elementary.

JIM ACOSTA: Wow. And, I can’t imagine what that’s like, going through on a daily basis. My heart goes out to you and me and your whole community.

Did seeing this report reading this report help at all? What was your reaction to it? What were your thoughts?

MIGUEL CERRILLO: The first five minutes that I read the report, I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t. I was in a rage, I was anger. I was really, really, really mad.

So I forced myself to read more, and I just, I just couldn’t understand why and, like, why y’all couldn’t go in, like. You know, it’s it’s a confusion of of everything to me right now. Like, it’s a lot of words that I can’t say that I want to say to them, but it’s just, it’s just unbelievable that they could have just take, go in that classroom. You know what I mean? .

It’s hard for me. It’s very hard to–

And then not only that, I got to see them every day. I live a few houses down from one of the police officers that was there, and I got to see him every day.

And it’s it’s hard for us. Like I said, it’s hard for us every day to see these officers still in the street patrolling and still harassing us every day for no reason. They’re just pulling us over for, for no reason. And they still have, they still having them running around in the streets, you know, and not doing nothing, just harassing people.

JIM ACOSTA: What do you mean by that? Harassing people.

MIGUEL CERRILLO: We got a few families, including myself, that they literally want to. They could. They just pull us over for no reason telling us to leave Uvalde, telling us all sorts of stuff. because they know that the truth was going to come out, and they didn’t want us here.

JIM ACOSTA: That is unbelievable! Well, what do you want to say to them?

MIGUEL CERRILLO: I really got to say. I got to say to them and Governor Abbott . 1 — governor Abbott. He didn’t. He’s not taking care of us. He’s not. He’s not worried about us. He’s just worried about himself. And. To change the gun law. He could do it, but he doesn’t want to. Like I said, he’s just taken care of himself and his people.

Two, the officers here, I really believe, including the chief of police, that is in charge still. I really believe that you should get the whole police station fired because they they they left. They left us– they left my kid. And not only my kid, but several kids in the classroom to die.
