Trump-Haters Insist This Viral Video Shows Foreign Queen Mocking Trump’s Face to His Face
A viral video purports to show Queen Máxima of the Netherlands mocking President Donald Trump’s facial movements right to his face during a royal visit.
Trump just completed an eventful trip to the NATO summit in the Netherlands, during which he lashed out at the American press at photo op with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and got into multiple fights with reporters at a joint press conference.
But in happier times, Trump posed for photographs with Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander after spending the night in the opulent Huis ten Bosch Palace.
As the posed for photos, King Willem-Alexander said he hoped Trump slept well, and the clearly impressed president enthused that he did:
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: That’s the picture we want.
KING WILLEM-ALEXANDER: Well, I hope you slept well.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: It was great.
KING WILLEM-ALEXANDER: Yeah?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: The house, this house is great!
QUEEN MAXIMA: (MAKES COMICAL MOUTH MOVEMENTS) (LOOKS AT CAMERA LIKE JIM FROM THE OFFICE)
The video has raised more questions than it answers, and not just about how the purportedly 6-foot-3-inch Trump appears to be shorter than the 6-foot-2-inch king and the 5-foot-10-inch queen.
Some Trump detractors claim that the clip shows Queen Maxima mimicking Trump’s facial movements. Viral social media posts featuring the video and captions like “Queen Maxima of the Netherlands mocks Donald Trump in front of the cameras!🤣” have racked up thousands of likes and over a million views.
Thus far, neither the White House nor the Dutch royals appear to be talking. According to Newsweek, which emailed all parties involved, “Neither the Dutch Royal Family nor the White House have commented on the exchange.”
There was no apparent mockery at another photo op, during which Trump met the king and queen and was introduced to Princess Catharina-Amalia, who is heir to the throne.
