Trump Rages Over WWII Memorial Vandalism: ‘First the Reflecting Pool, Now This’

A fountain at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., was vandalized with bubbles and spray paint — prompting President Donald Trump to angrily condemn the desecration and repeat his claims about the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool that even his own U.S. Attorney has dropped.

The vandalism included pink and green neon graffiti and the words, “Clean hands dirty $,” on the memorial’s Atlantic Pavilion, according to CNN.

An investigation is underway, according to the Department of the Interior.

“The public should know we will find the person responsible for this disgusting act,” the department said, according to the Associated Press.

“Our beautiful World War II Memorial was just hit by Spray Painting Vandals,” Trump declared on Truth Social early Friday.

“THERE CAN BE NO GREATER INSULT TO THOSE AMERICAN HEROES WHO DIED IN WORLD WAR II. First the Reflecting Pool, now this. We are on their trail! Where do these animals come from??? President DJT,” he wrote.

Trump’s oft-repeated claims of vandalism at the Reflecting Pool came as his administration apparently botched a rushed renovation job on the iconic public space.

An American Olympian, David Hearn, was arrested for vandalizing the reflecting pool in a high-profile case that was quickly dropped by Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia — much to Trump’s ire.

“Jeanine Pirro made a mistake,” Trump said of Pirro’s decision to drop the case — doubling down on his take from a previous Truth Social post. “There was vandalism.”

Hearn insisted on his innocence and pleaded not guilty,  telling reporters he “didn’t destroy or break or peel anything” and had only “grab[bed] the end of that flapping piece, the already peeling piece,” left it “still attached to the bottom,” and “didn’t remove anything.”

The White House recently asked the Department of Justice to reopen the case against Hearn, even though Pirro’s office said it relied on information from the Department of Interior when ending its prosecution.
