WATCH: Suspected Charlie Kirk Shooter Jumps From Rooftop in Newly Revealed Footage of Bold Escape
Newly released security camera footage shows the suspected Charlie Kirk assassin fleeing across a rooftop at Utah State University and jumping to the ground before walking away in the moments after the shooting.
The video, released by the FBI late Thursday, captures the alleged gunman bolting from their sniper’s perch atop Utah Valley University’s Losee building, 230 feet from where Kirk was sitting, before dangling from the edge, dropping to the ground, and walking calmly into a wooded area where officials say the rifle was discovered.
Since the shooting, the FBI has released other footage and photos tracing the movements of the suspect, including close-up images.
The first clip, from 11:49 a.m. local time on Wednesday, shows the suspect walking through a residential area, captured on a private security camera.
By 11:52 a.m., agents say, the individual had arrived on the Utah Valley University campus, where Kirk was scheduled to debate students. At 12:00 p.m., the event began. Just 20 minutes later, a single shot from roughly 230 feet away fatally struck Kirk in the neck.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox told reporters the FBI had already received “more than 7,000 leads and tips,” warning the public not to fall for conspiracy theories spreading online.
He added that authorities are preparing a “watertight case” to seek the death penalty if the suspect is captured.
