WATCH: Trump Reacts as Wall St. Journal Receives Award at WHCD for Its Coverage of Trump’s Ties to Epstein — Over Which He is Suing

President Donald Trump sat silently at Friday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner while reporters from the Wall Street Journal received an award for coverage over which Trump is suing.

Roughly an hour into Friday night’s festivities, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer took the podium to announce the winners of the Katherine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability.

“This year’s award goes to the Wall Street Journal,” Blitzer said. “The Journal’s courageous reporting on President Trump’s past relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein triggered the release of the so-called Epstein files, thousands of documents that might otherwise have remained hidden from the public.”

Trump laughed as Blitzer made the announcement and shrugged his shoulders. Blitzer proceeded to run down the various ways in which the reporters and the Journal faced pressure from the administration.

“And despite the president’s threat of a lawsuit, the Journal published a story about a provocative letter to Epstein bearing President Trump’s signature,” Blitzer said. “Trump quickly filed a $20 billion lawsuit against the Journal, revealing reporter Khadeeja Safdar’s home address. Her family had to be relocated. The Journal was kicked off of Air Force One. But the reporters continue to file revelatory stories.”

Seven reporters from the Journal were then invited on stage to accept their award. Trump rose from his seat and proceeded to shake hands with each one.
