White House Press Secretary Tells Reporters Trump ‘Remains Committed’ to ‘Obtaining Greenland’
President Donald Trump just cannot seem to let go of Greenland.
Despite a dizzying news cycle, ongoing Ukraine peace talks and fresh off a Middle East trip, the president has not wavered from the potential of making Greenland part of the United States, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
During Monday morning’s White House press briefing, a reporter asked Leavitt for details regarding the Greenland situation, including whether Trump has any plans to visit.
“I don’t have any future foreign trips to read out for you — we just returned home from one,” Leavitt responded. “But the president maintains the reasoning for Greenland’s strategic purposes in the Arctic and he continues to remain committed to the idea of obtaining Greenland in whatever means we can to advance our national security interests in the region.”
Trump has remained steadfast in his desire to acquire Greenland, even if it’s by force.
His persistence has been met with opposition from leaders in the independent Danish territory, including it’s prime minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who has maintained, “Greenland is ours.”
