Elon Musk Insists Trump Is ‘Not Evil’ After Going Scorched Earth On Ex-Ally and Accusing Him of Being in ‘Epstein Files’
Elon Musk declared President Donald Trump is “not evil” despite previously accusing him of being in the “Epstein files” and their rollercoaster relationship.
Musk joined Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience on Friday for a three-plus-hour interview where he touched on everything from Cybertrucks to comets to aliens.
“Some people still think Trump is like the devil, basically,” Musk said at one point about the president. “I think Trump actually is not perfect, but he’s not evil. Trump is not evil. I mean, I spent a lot of time with him, and he’s, I mean he’s a product of his time, but he’s not evil.”
Rogan agreed with the assessment, but argued the media coverage drives people to think he is evil.
“One of the things that I looked at the other day was mainstream media coverage of you, Trump, a bunch of different figures, and then Mamdani,” Rogan told Musk.
“It’s like 96% negative or something crazy,” Musk said.
“And then Mamdani, which is like 95% positive,” Rogan said.
Trump and Musk have a complicated relationship. Musk campaigned with Trump in 2024 and would go on to work directly with him in the White House through his work with DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency).
Shortly after Musk departed his role in May, however, the two traded a number of public insults, with Musk heavily critical of elements to the president’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Trump threatened Musk’s government contracts, while Musk at one point accused Trump of not releasing files related to child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein because he was in them (an X post he ended up deleting).
Musk argued during his Rogan appearance that “real” elections in the country would have been over if Trump hadn’t won the election in 2024.
“If Trump had lost, there would never have been another real election again because Trump is actually enforcing the border,” he said.
