Stephen A. Smith Continues Bizarre Crusade to Shame Pelicans Star Zion Williamson for His Weight — Now Claims He Hides Food From Team

In spite of yet another wave of criticism, Stephen A. Smith isn’t backing down from his bizarre obsession with New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson’s weight.

Last week, Smith made headlines when he claimed the main concern for Williamson was “how many burgers he’s eating” as opposed to his skill on the court. A few months earlier, he said sources told him Williamson was a favorite customer within New Orleans’ restaurant scene because he’d “eat the table.”

Making the most recent comments even more puzzling was the fact that they came during a successful stretch for both Williamson and the Pelicans, who had won eight of their last nine games at the time. Pelicans analyst Antonio Daniels took exception to Smith’s words and called him out.

On Monday’s episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith slammed Daniels for calling him “lazy” before doubling down with more information from supposed inside sources.

“Do I have to get into details about the issues that the New Orleans Pelicans have had with keeping him from stuffing his face and his stomach?” Smith said. “Do I have to go into detail about how this brother has hidden food — literally. I’m not speculating. Hidden food from y’all — because you work for the Pelicans, too — so we wouldn’t know how much he was eating. Stop! Stop it! You know it’s true!

“I’ve been covering the NBA for 30 years. You know how much stuff I could say? But you know I never would because I don’t violate people and I don’t violate trust like you. Don’t come to me talking about I’m ‘lazy.'”

Although Smith’s decades-long resume as a journalist speaks for itself, his inside information does occasionally get disproven. When he claimed Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball struggled to stand from a seated position due to a knee injury, Ball took to social media to immediately prove that wasn’t the case.
