WATCH: Baseball Fan Slaps Younger Man Who Refused to Stand for National Anthem in Viral Smackdown

There’s no crying in baseball — and no sitting during the national anthem when this fan is around.

A young man who chose to sit during the national anthem at Wrigley Field on Sunday got a shocking comeuppance when an older gentleman took great exception to the decision.

A video posted to X captured the exchange, which unfolded as The Jersey Girls gave their rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” before the Chicago Cubs took on the Minnesota Twins.

A patron in a white T-shirt stayed in his seat as most of the crowd around him stood for the anthem, the footage showed.

That’s when an older man in a grey T-shirt and shorts in the row behind stepped forward, according to the clip.

“Stand up!” the older man demanded as the younger fan looked irritated and briefly shook his head in apparent confusion.

The two exchanged words, with the older man again spitting: “Stand up!” before he lifted his left hand and smacked the younger man in the head, the video showed.

Audible gasps could be heard in the crowd as the older man unleashed his slap and other fans turned around to see what was happening.

The younger man is then seen slowly getting to his feet.

Only one nearby fan tried to rein in the angry fan, telling him, “Just leave him alone.”

The slapper then pointed to the younger man and said, “He’s not standing up!” and even appeared to tell the other fan, “Shut up!”

“Thank you so much, young man,” the assaulter then told the younger fan.

The clip was posted to X by @LibOrNormal and has since collected over nine million views on the platform.
