Bill Maher Slams The View as ‘Not the Best Advertisement for Women’
Here’s a hot topic: Bill Maher is not a fan of The View.
The comic and TV host criticized the ladies of The View as “not the best advertisement for women.”
As the comic discussed talk shows with actress Drew Barrymore on his Club Random podcast, Maher admitted that while View panelists Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are friends, their show is “a lot.”
“You know, I love Whoopi and Joy,” Maher told Barrymore in the show that dropped Monday. “Those are the two I really know. And I did it like a year ago and I liked everybody, but I don’t know if they’re really at this moment the best advertisement for women.”

BILL MAHER: I’m friendly with some of the ladies on The View and I love them but that show’s a lot, and I think I’d rather…
DREW BARRYMORE: Joy came on our show…
MAHER: I love Joy!
BARRYMORE: She literally had the best time, she was like, what the fuck is going on here? No one comes to stop us. Yeah, it’s a playground. It’s so chill and fun, I didn’t want to do anything tropey or overtimed. I wanted to find something different there.
MAHER: You know, I love Whoopi and Joy. Those are the two I really know. And I did it like a year ago and I liked everybody, but I don’t know if they’re really at this moment the best advertisement for women.
BARRYMORE: It’s a format, that show
MAHER: They say some things that are just like, not helpful, like say to elections.
Maher appeared on The View a year ago as he promoted his book, What This Comedian Said Will Shock You.
