Fox & Friends Airs 2005 Clip of Steve Doocy Asking Henry Kissinger About Not Being ‘Deep Throat’
Fox & Friends held a Throwback Thursday today as the show reflected on the life of Henry Kissinger, who passed away last night.
The death of the former secretary of state was announced late Wednesday. No cause of death was given for Kissinger, who was 100 years old.
The news of Kissinger’s death was met with a divided public reaction since his influence over foreign policy has made him one of the most polarizing figures in modern American history. Kissinger has long faced criticism over his policies regarding Chile, Cambodia, and other topics, but Fox & Friends largely focused on his accomplishments as they talked about his legacy.
In the midst of this, Steve Doocy explained that there was a period of time when people wondered if Kissinger was “Deep Throat,” the alias of the informant who connected the Nixon administration to Watergate. As such, Fox & Friends aired a clip of Kissinger on the show back in 2005 when Doocy asked him how he felt when the news broke that “Deep Throat” was actually Mark Felt.
“For many, many years, people have thought you were ‘Deep Throat,'” Doocy said. “Are you glad you are finally off the hook? Were you getting sick of people asking are you ‘Deep Throat? Are you?'”
Kissinger called the claim “ridiculous” as he told Doocy, “I never took it seriously.” As for Doocy, he got a kick out of seeing his younger self, exclaiming, “who is that young guy talking to him?”
“You look the same!” Ainsley Earhardt complimented. “You have not aged.”
