Fox News Anchor Confronts GOP Congressman Over Obama ‘Treason’ Charge: ‘That’s a Big Word to Use!’

Fox News’ Shannon Bream confronted House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford (R-AR) over the weighty accusations being made against former President Barack Obama and his administration by President Donald Trump and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard during an interview on Sunday.

After Bream noted that Obama has dismissed the allegation that he was at the head of a “treasonous conspiracy” as “ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,” Crawford argued that should comes as no surprise because “he was the one that essentially initiated it.”

“I think this is typical of the Obama administration. He’s the guy that authorized it. His henchmen, [John] Brennan, [James] Comey, and [James] Clapper implemented,” continued Crawford.

Bream followed up:

Congressman [Jason] Crow says this information has been there. And maybe not to public access, we didn’t know about it, but this information has been there, there’s been access to it from other people in the intel community. And again, the same conclusions were reached about Russia and about its meddling and about it’s getting involved. So why is it different now? Because when you use words like, we’ve heard from some connected to this release, “treasonous conspiracy,” I mean, that’s a big word to use. Even our own Andy McCarthy, who’s no cheerleader for the Obama administration, says, “if there were a criminal offense that fit, Gabbard and Trump would cite it rather than chanting ‘treason.’ The heinous crime of levying war against the United States, or giving aid and comfort to America’s wartime enemies, which clearly does not apply to the situation.” Your response?

“Yeah, so that information has been out there a long time. I doubt that the Democrats on our committee have taken the time to read it. We had access to it the whole time. They had the same opportunity to go over to the secure space at the CIA, review the same documents, and conduct their own investigation and their own report on that ICA, and they chose not to. Our team chose to. And that is the report that you saw released earlier this week,” replied Crawford. “With regard to the claims of treason, I’ll leave that to the courts to make that determination. My job as chairman of the committee was to bring this to light. We went through the appropriate process to get that done with the support of President Trump, with the sport of his IC team, and now it’s out there for the American people to see just exactly what happened, and why that ICA is so grossly flawed.”

“Well, I’d encourage people to go read it just as well as they can go read the bipartisan Senate reports from years ago. There’s plenty of information, dig into it for yourself, see what you think,” advised Bream before thanking Crawford for coming on air.
