Fox’s Lawrence Jones Questions Whether GOP Has the ‘Energy’ to Win Midterms: ‘It’s a Coin Flip Right Now’

Fox News host Lawrence Jones appeared to cast some doubt on Republicans heading into the midterm elections on Monday, warning that he doesn’t “see the energy” with the party.

After a Monday Fox & Friends segment about the recent secret meeting between Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Jared Kushner reported by The New York Times over the weekend, the conversation turned to whether Republicans can keep the House majority in November.

“I think it’s a coin-flip right now when it comes to the House.” Jones said.

When co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that House Speaker Mike Johnson believes there are 19 seats in play for the midterms, Jones took it a step further.

“Look, I’m not saying the Republicans aren’t trying, but I don’t see the energy with the Republicans right now,” he said. “And I just think they have a hard time explaining how we got into this mess when it comes to the Biden administration pumping all the money into the economy, and inflation, the impact.

He added: “They say the number one rule in politics is if you are explaining, you’re losing, they haven’t been able to make that case.”

That’s when co-host Ainsley Earhardt asked him, “What would you rather see from the Republican side?”

He replied that it will all come down to affordability:

Well, they have to be honest with the American people and say, “Look, we haven’t gotten here as fast as we want, but we were in the ditch, and things are going well as it relates to where we came from.” When you look at prescription drugs. When you look at the tax cuts that you were able to get. We are working on it… If you think things are bad right now, turn the keys over to the Democrats and, you know, it’s not enough just to say that they are crazy, and I do agree. They are crazy, especially some of these candidates that they are running. Everything is gonna be about the pocketbook in election though.
