Frequent CNN Guest Slams Network’s ‘Cowardly Bullsh*t’ After Jim Acosta Loses Time Slot Because of ‘The Crybaby in the White House’

Former congressman and frequent CNN guest Joe Walsh tore into the network over its latest personnel shakeup.
CNN laid off six percent of its workforce on Thursday and announced several lineup changes, including Wolf Blitzer moving to the 10 a.m. hour occupied by Jim Acosta, who now has no time slot. Last week, former CNN reporter Oliver Darcy reported that CEO Mark Thompson asked Acosta to host a show on the graveyard shift from midnight to 2 a.m. But when CNN revealed the changes on Thursday, Acosta’s status was in limbo.
An 18-year veteran of the network, Acosta has been one of President Donald Trump’s most dogged critics. As CNN’s White House correspondent during Trump’s first term, he routinely clashed with the president and his spokespeople.
“They want to get rid of Acosta to throw a bone to Trump,” a source told Darcy. “Midnight is not a serious offer when his ratings are among the best on the network.”
CNN icing out Acosta – at least for now – elicited a fair share of criticism, but perhaps none were harsher than what Walsh tweeted out hours after the announcement.
“I appear on @CNN quite often,” Walsh wrote. “And if saying what I’m about to say means my days at CNN are over, well then fuck it. CNN, what you just did – removing @Acosta from his morning show – is cowardly bullshit. Acosta is one of your most independent, unafraid hosts. To demote him to fucking appease the crybaby in the White House is pathetic. And an abdication of your duty to hold ALL public officials to account. Shame on you CNN. Correct this mistake now.”
