‘Might Be Visiting Soon’: Democrat On MSNBC Suggests GOP ‘Honor’ Trump By Naming ‘Nice Federal Penitentiary’ Near Mar-A-Lago After Him
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) roasted former President Donald Trump by suggesting that Republicans lawmakers should rename a prison after him because he might be “visiting” soon.
Earlier this week, House Republicans brought forward legislation to have Washington Dulles International Airport renamed after Trump. In response, Democratic lawmakers forward brought introduced legislation to have a federal prison named after the Republican nominee.
Connolly, along with Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA), released the two-paged bill which proposed renaming the Miami Federal Correctional Institution in Florida to the the “Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.”
During an MSNBC interview on Sunday, anchor Jonathan Capeheart asked about the Virginia lawmaker about his latest legislative efforts.
Well, there’s a nice federal penitentiary right near Mar-a-Lago. And I just thought for a guy who’s now got 88 criminal indictments pending, criminal. Plus two major civil penalty trials that have already been resolved, costing him about a half $1 billion. I think it’s only fitting that if we if Republicans really want to honor Donald Trump, the most appropriate way to do that is to name a federal prison. He might be visiting soon.
Trump faces four criminal indictments in four jurisdictions for multiple alleged offenses, including his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his storing of classified material.
