White House Counterterrorism Official Suggests Critics of Mass Deportations Are ‘Aiding and Abetting’ Terrorism

White House Senior Director for Counterterrorism Seb Gorka accused critics of mass deportation of being “on the side of terrorists.” He even went so far as to far to suggest those critics are breaking the law by “aiding and abetting” terrorism.

Gorka appeared on Tuesday’s edition of Rob Schmitt Tonight on Newsmax, where he addressed the legal and political dustup centering on Kilmar Abrego Garcia. A Salvadoran national, Abrego Garcia was arrested last month in Baltimore and deported to El Salvador, where he is reportedly incarcerated in the country’s notorious CECOT prison. The Trump administration alleges he is a member of the MS-13 gang, though he has no criminal record. In 2019, an immigration judge ruled that Abrego Garcia could not be deported to El Salvador because of credible death threats.

Abrego Garcia is one of more than 250 deportees the U.S. sent to the Salvadoran prison. The administration has claimed all were in gangs, though a 60 Minutes review found at least 75% of the men had no criminal records.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling ordering the administration to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return to the U.S., which is paying the Salvadoran government to imprison him and hundreds of others.

“It’s not left and right, It’s not even Republican or Democrat,” Gorka said. “There’s one line that divides us. Do you love America or do you hate America? It’s really quite that simple.”

Gorka went on to say President Donald Trump loves America, unlike “the other side that is on the side of the cartel members, on the side of the illegal aliens on the side of the terrorists.”

He went on to suggest this latter group is violating federal law.

“And you have to ask yourself, are they technically aiding and abetting them?” Gorka asked. “Because aiding and abetting criminals and terrorists is a crime in federal statute.”
