WATCH: Congressman Falls Asleep in His Chair During 4 AM House Hearing, Gets Hilariously Jolted Awake by Colleague

The House Ways and Means Committee was in session all night — but one congressman eventually clocked out of work in utterly hilarious fashion.

Just shy of 5 a.m. Wednesday, Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) fell asleep in his chair, just as the committee was preparing to take a vote. C-SPAN’s cameras caught Moore out cold for roughly 15 seconds — his head fully slumped on his shoulder.

It was up to Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) — sitting next to Moore — to jolt the congressman back to life so he could vote. Fischback leaned in, patted Moore on the shoulder, and (presumably) told him it was time to vote.

Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) and Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS) — watching this comical scene play out below them — could be seen cracking up over their comatose colleague. Moore, for his part, sheepishly took a bow and fixed his tie.

The committee was in session to markup the massive spending package titled “the one big, beautiful bill.” But for Rep. Moore, no legislation — no matter how beautiful — was evidently going to come between him and his beauty rest.
