After starting the season 0-14, the Cleveland Browns finally broke through on Saturday and got off the schneid by defeating San Diego 20-17. And no one was happier about it than local Cleveland meteorologist Scott Sabol.
At the beginning of the season, Sabol vowed not to shave his beard until the Browns won a game. But Sabol couldn’t possibly have imagined that he would’ve had to hold out through 14 games — a grand total of 109 days.
Mercifully, though, the streak came to an end on Saturday. And Sabol had his long overdue meeting with the razor during a Monday morning broadcast on WJW, Cleveland’s FOX affiliate.

The beard wouldn’t have survived much longer anyway, according to Sabol, as his station’s news director would’ve forced him to shave at the end of the season. Still, after 109 days, it was clear that Sabol didn’t much feel like waiting for another week.
“This season was as tough for me as it was for all of Cleveland,” Sabol wrote in a blog post.
