Actor and close-to-ex-MSNBC host Alec Baldwin has come under a wave of criticism for homophobic remarks he made to a paparazzo, but over the weekend, Ireland Baldwin, his daughter, took to Twitter to defend her father from the accusations of homophobia being leveled at him.
Leading the charge on calling Baldwin out for homophobia was blogger Andrew Sullivan, who kept the pressure on MSNBC in their immediate silence after the uproar. Baldwin announced his own suspension and apologized. The next day, Baldwin’s daughter defended him, saying his temper just got the better of him and that he’s not a hateful person.
A number of news outlets picked up on the tweets, including today’s New York Daily News cover referencing another time Baldwin lost his cool.
