Amber Heard is accusing her husband Johnny Depp of domestic abuse––that revelation coming days after she filed for divorce––and celebrities have come out to support Heard or to speak out in Depp’s defense.
One of the celebs in the latter category is comedian Doug Stanhope, a friend of his, who penned a column for TheWrap saying, ” Johnny Depp got used, manipulated, set up and made to look like an a–hole. And he saw it coming and didn’t or couldn’t do anything to stop it.”
He said this was clearly blackmail.
Well, Heard’s lawyer fired back in a statement sent to TheWrap demanding a retraction:
The “allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false,” said Peter Sample, a lawyer for Heard. The letter said that the claim of blackmail by Depp’s friend Doug Stanhope “has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.”
He added, directly addressing TheWrap, “It is highly offensive and disturbing that you would choose to publish it in the first place.”
