Bill O’Reilly Slams Sam Bee For ‘Mocking’ Prayer After Orlando Shooting: ‘It Was Offensive to Me’
In the wake of the deadliest terror attack on US soil since 9/11, pundits, TV hosts, and anchors have all had a wide variety of responses. While some have chosen to put the emphasis on our continued battle against the threat of the Islamic state, others have pointed to gun legislation as part of the answer. On her show Full Frontal Monday night, comedian Samantha Bee grew serious on the issue of guns, lambasting lawmakers like Florida Governor Rick Scott for their perceived inaction on the issue.
“What the fuck are you even talking about?” she said after a clip of Scott played. “Stop thinking and do something to improve our society!” Regarding the frequently-spouted line about prayer in the aftermath of these tragedies, Bee said, “Sit[ting] quietly in a room with your eyes closed, talking to nobody,” isn’t a reasonable solution towards fixing our mass shootings.
On Wednesday night, Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly revealed his problem with Bee’s assertions.
Discussing the issue with Dennis Miller, O’Reilly slammed Bee’s rhetoric, saying:
“The one commentator, I guess it was Samantha Bee, mocked people who were praying for the victims of the terror attack. Look, it’s a secular world we live in, she’s entitled to her opinion, but it was offensive to me.”
O’Reilly is a devout Catholic, and Miller furthered that prayer and reflection are often the mechanisms by which many people come to terms with these awful tragedies after they occur.
