Comedian Patton Oswalt Raises Money for Trump Fan Who Trolled Him After Learning of Health Crisis

Comedian Patton Oswalt raised money for a random Trump supporter on Twitter who he battled with on the site, tweeting that he had a change of heart after seeing the man’s GoFundMe for various health issues.

“Aw, man. This dude just attacked me on Twitter and I joked back but then I looked at his timeline and he’s in a LOT of trouble health-wise,” wrote Oswalt, who has advocated for various progressive causes, in a quote-tweet of Twitter user Michael Beatty’s GoFundMe. “I’d be pissed off too. He’s been dealt some shitty cards — let’s deal him some good ones. Click and donate — just like I’m about to.”

Before Oswalt donated to and promoted his page, Beatty’s GoFundMe had just $500 before the comedian pitched in $2000. After he shared the link, Oswalt’s followers donated several thousand additional dollars.

The Trump supporter tweeted his thankfulness to Oswalt, after initially attacking the comedian for shooting “basketball like the sawed off little man you are.”

“Patton. You have humbled me to the point where I can barely compose my words,” Beatty tweeted. “You have caused me to take pause and reflect on how harmful words from my mouth could result in such an outpouring. Thank you for this and I will pass this on to my cousin who needs help. A cascade.”

As of publishing, the total money donated is nearly $7,000.
