Disney has lifted its ban on the L.A. Times after an outcry across the media industry.
The Times ran an exposé on Disney and the Anaheim economy that let to the House of Mouse banning the paper from attending preview screenings of its movies.
There was immediate backlash among the journalism industry. The Washington Post‘s Alyssa Rosenberg wrote yesterday that she will not be going to advance screenings of Disney films so long as Disney continues to impose this ban. Other news outlets joined in, including The New York Times this afternoon.
Well, in a statement obtained by the NY Times, Disney said the ban has been lifted:
“We’ve had productive discussions with the newly installed leadership at The Los Angeles Times regarding our specific concerns, and as a result, we’ve agreed to restore access to advance screenings for their film critics.”
