Same song, slightly different lyrics: Donald Trump is trying to take a new talking point out for a spin, telling the Associated Press that he thinks there might be something shady at play behind President Barack Obama‘s acceptances into Ivy League schools:
I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard? I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records.
The President transferred to Columbia University from Occidental College, and later attended Harvard Law. Despite revealing in his memoir, 1995’s Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, that he wasn’t “always” a good student, Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law, in addition to becoming the prestigious Harvard Law Review’s first black president.
But Trump, apparently, remains unconvinced:
I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can’t get into Harvard. We don’t know a thing about this guy. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered about our president.
The would-be Republican candidate said he’s “looking into” Obama’s education.
