Elton John Responds After Trump Adviser Says He’ll be Playing Trump’s Inauguration
In a conversation with BBC, a member of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team said that music legend Elton John was going to be playing Trump’s inauguration in January.
Anthony Scaramucci, while praising Trump’s gay rights record, invoked John’s supposed confirmation for the inauguration concert as proof.
“Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for the inauguration,” Scaramucci said.
However, there appears to be one little problem — John is saying he’s not coming.
According to the New York Post, a representative for the ‘I’m Still Standing’ singer said he “will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration.”
As was noted by the Post, Elton John was a Hillary Clinton supporter during the election, stating last month that we needed “a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian.”
During Trump’s presidential campaign, he would have ‘Tiny Dancer’ and other John songs played to the crowd. The musician didn’t appreciate this and informed Trump to stop, but to no avail.
