Hamilton Fans Use #Ham4StoptheSham on Twitter to Celebrate Supreme Court Ruling


You need to know two things before looking at the following tweets:

1. The cast of Hamilton, the super-popular Broadway musical that everyone you know won’t stop talking about, performs something called #Ham4Ham outside of their theater in New York City for and with fans assembled there. This happens on Wednesdays and Saturdays, is often streamed online, and can include cameos from other big-name performers.

2. Those opposed to HB2, the Texas abortion restriction the Supreme Court ruled against this morning, used #StopTheSham to promote their beliefs on Twitter leading up to, during, and after the oral arguments in the case were heard last March.

People who like reproductive rights and Hamilton combined those hashtags today, producing the following celebration of the SCOTUS ruling:

The tweets featured applicable lyrics and choreography from the musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton. Some called for the Senate to vote on President Barack Obama‘s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.
