Joy Reid Claims Trump ‘Only Wants to Kill Young White Men’ in Wild Rant

Former MS NOW (then MSNBC) star Joy Reid ripped into President Donald Trump on Friday, declaring that his war in Iran — coupled with how he “stripped” the military of its ties to women and people of color — proves he “only wants to kill young white men.”

Pointing out that “we don’t even know how many people have died in Iran” on The Joy Reid Show, Reid continued, “Donald Trump is killing your sons, after stripping the history of anybody Black, anybody that’s a woman, or anybody gay from the military, making it clear that he only wants to kill young white men.”

While Reid made no indication of the specific instances she was referencing, in March, The New York Times reported that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s chief of staff told a military leader that Trump doesn’t “want to stand next to a Black female officer at military events.” And in March of 2025, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration could move forward with its ban on transgender people in the military.

Regarding Reid’s assertion that the death toll in Iran remains unknown, just last Thursday, the Times revealed that the administration removed four American service members from the Pentagon’s public casualty count after determining they died following the president’s April ceasefire declaration.

Reid continued:

And every single young white man that signs up for the military — because that’s the only people they want — that man is going to send you to Iran. This is going to escalate. There will be — probably — a ground invasion, and it’s your sons he’s trying to suck in. He’s gonna kill your sons and then not tell you how they died. Donald Trump is presiding over what feels like a return of lynching, or at least lynching culture, or at least the lynching vibe all across the South.
