RNC Official Resigns After Report on Michael Cohen Negotiating $1.6 Million Settlement to Playboy Model
New reports indicate that Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was involved in another matter that involved a woman paid off to keep quiet about her sexual encounters with a high-ranking GOP figure.
The Wall Street Journal states Cohen negotiated a deal last year on behalf of Elliott Broidy, a deputy finance chairman for the Republican National Committee. Shortly after the news came out, WSJ journalist Rebecca Ballhaus reports that Broidy has resigned from his position.

The deal was a $1.6 million settlement Broidy paid to a Playboy model who claimed he impregnated her. Cohen, who is also an RNC deputy finance chair, set up the arrangement so that the settlement will be paid in quarterly installments over a two year period.
“I acknowledge I had a consensual relationship with a Playboy Playmate,” Broidy said via a spokesperson. “At the end of our relationship, this woman shared with me that she was pregnant. She alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and I offered to help her financially during this difficult period.”
The report follows a flurry of news this week after the FBI raided Cohen’s offices and seized various records, documents, and pieces of tech. The raid is connected to the investigations of Cohen’s alleged bank fraud and campaign finance legal violations connected to the Stormy Daniels hush-money payment.
