George Conway Laughs at Trump’s ‘Narcissistic Lovefest’ Interview With Michael Cohen

George Conway largely shrugged off President Donald Trump’s remarkably friendly reunion with his former fixer-turned-foe Michael Cohen on Thursday, ridiculing the sit-down as a “narcissistic lovefest.”

The interview, which aired Thursday on Cohen’s 77 WABC program, marked a striking turn in the pair’s relationship, which collapsed in 2018 after Cohen spent years serving as Trump’s personal attorney. Cohen later pleaded guilty to federal crimes, served more than a year in prison, and became a key witness against Trump in his 2024 hush-money trial, which resulted in a 34-count felony conviction.

Speaking to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday, Conway, a staunch Trump critic and co-founder of The Lincoln Project, called their conversation “comical.”

Citing Cohen’s emphatic support for the president’s war in Iran, Conway continued, “It was just this incredible narcissistic lovefest.”

The Lincoln Project co-founder went on to point out Cohen’s conversation with CNN’s Jake Tapper earlier on Thursday, in which he confirmed that he has asked the Trump administration for a pardon after not receiving one from former President Joe Biden.

“He absolutely wants a pardon. He wants something from Trump,” Conway said. “Cohen knows how to play Trump. Trump is one of the most easily manipulable people in the world because of his extreme narcissism, and here we have it. I mean, Cohen knows how to do that.”

During the president’s interview, he told his former fixer, “I respect the fact that you recanted everything that you said.”

Of these comments, Conway emphasized, though, “Cohen hasn’t recanted anything. We heard him on Jake Tapper’s show today say, ‘I’m not going back into anything I said in the past.’ So, it’s just comical, really.”

Independent journalist Tara Palmeri was also present for the CNN segment, during which she revealed, “Fourteen months ago in June, Michael Cohen reached out to me because he saw that I called the president, doing reporting. And he asked me for his number. And he said to me, ‘Tara, I know him better than anyone else. I think I can get back on his good side.'”
