New Video From Iranian Media Appears to Show Detained U.S. Sailor in Tears

Iranian state media released new video and pictures today from last month’s brief detainment of U.S. Navy sailors. The footage appears to show one of the ten sailors sobbing in the middle of his overnight detainment.

The images shown on state television programing reveal one of the men in a crouched position with red, puffy eyes before cutting away to a shot of him where he appears to wipe his face with a tissue.

While the Navy sailors were detained for only one day after being stopped for traveling in Iranian waters, their brief capture has been a major source of criticism for President Obama over the past month. Iranian media previously released similar videos of the detainees being forced to apologize and held in submissive positions, which conservatives have blasted as capitulation to the Iranian government on top of President’s Obama’s controversial nuclear deal with the nation of Iran.
