Obama: Fox News’ Audience ‘Living on a Different Planet’ Than NPR’s

Former President Barack Obama spoke with David Letterman about how fragmented the media is these days, and he invoked Fox News to make his point.

Obama was the first guest on Letterman’s new Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, in which he discussed a lot about his post-presidency and his “dad moves.”

You may have heard about his Fox News comments today from Fox News itself, wherein Obama either “ripped” or “slammed” the network. (And goodness knows Fox News wouldn’t stand for a leader criticizing a network he doesn’t like.)

Here’s what he said, during a discussion with Letterman about the media and tribalism:

“What the Russians exploited––but it was already here––is we are operating in completely different universes. If you watch Fox News, you are living on a different planet than you are if you, you know, listen to NPR.”

The episode is available to stream on Netflix.
