Shepard Smith Passionately Calls For US To Fix School Shooting Problem: We’re ‘Failing Our Children’
After reporting on the latest developments in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that led to 17 fatalities and numerous other injuries, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith passionately and emotionally pleaded for America to come together and figure out how to stop these increasingly common tragedies.
Noting how many school shootings have occurred since Columbine and the number of mass shootings the country has witnessed since the turn of the century, Smith expressed disbelief that somehow the United States can’t solve this issue.
“We have all of the resources in the world and we can’t figure out why this happens in our country and doesn’t happen everywhere else,” he exclaimed. “Why can’t we come together as a society and say we’re going to research this, going to bring our best and brightest together and put them in a room and give them whatever they need to figure out why are our children killing each other more than anything else?”
Declaring that America put a man on the moon fifty years ago and yet “can’t figure out why only our children are running around killing each other,” Smith reiterated the need to put experts on the situation.
“Why can’t they put the best and the brightest together to help us stop it?” Smith asked, adding that we’re “failing our children.”
The Fox News host concluded by informing his audience that this is the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history in which the shooter survived.
