Stephen A. Smith Hasn’t Picked the NBA Finals Winner in 6 Years, Now Has His Own Curse

Screen-Shot-2016-06-22-at-3.06.57-PM-e1466622462556If you are going to place a bet on the NBA Finals, don’t listen to Stephen A. Smith. The ESPN analyst and ESPN First Take commentator has predicted that the wrong team will win the NBA Championship for the past 6 years. Interestingly, Lebron James, the 2016 Finals MVP and arguably the best player in the NBA right now, has played in every finals that Smith failed to predict.

Here’s how Smith did in his previous six picks:

In 2011, Smith picked the Miami Heat to beat the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks proceeded to win in 6 games.

In 2012, Smith picked the Oklahoma City Thunder to beat the Miami Heat and their big 3 of James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Heat lost the first game and then won the next four.

“I think Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs pull it off. I’m picking the San Antonio Spurs to win this series,” said Stephen A., his affectionate nickname, of the 2013 NBA Finals. The Heat won in 7 games.

The Heat had a loaded team and was coming off of two straight NBA Championships, so Smith picked them to win it all in 2014. The Heat ended up losing in 5 games to the Spurs led by Tim Duncan and coach Greg Popovich.

After Lebron returned home to Cleveland in 2015, he was determined to bring a championship to that city to end their 51 year drought. Stephen A. thought it would be a good idea to pick them to win.  They lost to the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry.

“I’m picking the Golden State Warriors to win these Finals,” said Stephen A. of the 2016 Finals. However, Lebron succeeded in his goal and brought an end to the championship drought in Cleveland.

Fortunately, some Youtubers also brought us a new video describing the new Stephen A. Smith Curse.
