Rick Tyler, an independent Congressional candidate for Tennessee’s 3rd District, has recently put up billboards saying ‘Make America White Again’. Tyler is now facing a boycott of his restaurant business because his billboard has been slammed as racist and bigoted. Locals have called upon their friends and family to boycott Tyler’s restaurants.
However, Tyler seems unfazed by the boycott threats and has said that his slogan is a spinoff of Donald Trump‘s slogan ‘Make America Great Again’.
“Of great significance, as well, is the reality of the Trump phenomenon and the manner in which he has loosened up the overall spectrum of political discourse. The Make America White Again billboard advertisement will cut to the very core and marrow of what plagues us as a nation,” Tyler said according to Raw Story.
Tyler reported had plans for other billboards that would say “Fight federal tyranny / Stop the Muslim invasion” and “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be miscegenators.”
Locals have responded to the call to boycott as many organizations and private citizens have decided to stay away from his restaurants. The outrage may have worked because the billboard had disappeared overnight. However, it is unclear if Tyler has fully abandoned the billboard strategy.
“THE SIGN IS OFFICIALLY DOWN!!! Never should have been there in the first place, but at least it’s gone,” Amy Hines Woody said in an update.
