Tim Tebow’s Surprise Visit to Cancer-Stricken Superfan is Awesome

Tim Tebow might not be quarterbacking in the NFL right now, having been cut by the Eagles at the end of preseason, but he lit up a fan’s world in a touching video that has gone viral over the past two days.

Nathaniel Nelson has been at Wolfson Children’s Hospital for about two months, undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. About a month ago, Nelson talked about his struggles to local news, while also talking about how much he loved the Florida Gators and that Tebow, who was once a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback at Florida, was his favorite football player ever.

As it would seem, The Tim Tebow Foundation heard about Nelson, and decided to set up a plan to introduce him to his idol. Completely without warning to Nelson or his family, Tebow walked into his hospital room, which immediately caused him to burst into tears.

Tebow told Nelson about the many messages he received about this story, and how he decided that he had to meet and talk with him.

“I just busted out laughing. I was laughing inside. And then it brings tears of joy and then I thank him for coming to visit me because, I mean, he’s Tim Tebow,” Nelson said later about the meeting. “Meeting Tim Tebow was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Nelsos said that the meeting mostly entailed talks about football and a few rounds of Call of Duty. The meeting video has been shared over 100,000 times on Facebook, and viewed at least 4 million times since Tuesday.
