Trump Doral Golf Resort Shooting Bodycam Footage Released

Police in Florida have released harrowing bodycam footage of officers responding to gunfire at the Trump National Golf Resort in Doral on Friday.

The Washington Post reported that 42-year-old Jonathan Oddi opened fire early Friday morning inside President Donald Trump‘s namesake golf resort.

Armed with a handgun, Oddi drew down the American flag from a flagpole outside the building and then draped the banner over a counter in the marble-floored lobby. Oddi then began yelling “anti-Trump, President Trump, rhetoric,” according to Juan Perez, director of Miami-Dade Police.

Police said that Oddi pulled the fire alarm in the building “in efforts to cause further confusion,” the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

“As he did that, he waited for our police officers. He did begin to shoot inside the lobby, which prompted calls and curiosity from some of the people in the lobby. They were met with an individual with a handgun, who pointed it at them and proceeded to fire it into the roof and chandeliers of the hotel…He waited for our police officers in the front lobby to engage them,” Perez said, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Officers responded to the scene as shots rang out. Bodycam footage revealed that officers closed in on the building before entering the lobby and then going up a flight of stairs. The alleged shooter was later shot in the leg but is expected to survive.

One officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury but was not directly shot.
