Donald Trump Jr. has offered a new explanation with regards to the bombshell report about how he met with a Kremlin-affiliated lawyer who offered him damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
New York Times has a new article that expands on the undisclosed meeting between Natalia Veselnitskaya and Trump Jr., Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner. Shortly after the Times piece was published, ABC picked up on statement where Trump Jr. gave his side of how the meeting went.

According to the statement, the meeting was set up through one of Trump Jr.’s business contacts, and he asked Kushner and Manafort to join him in case they learned useful information for his father’s campaign. Trump Jr. said the lawyer’s information about Clinton was a pretext, that there was “no meaningful information” learned, and that elder Trump “knew nothing of the meeting.”
When the initial story broke last night, Trump Jr. insisted that the meeting had nothing to do with campaign issues and was strictly focused on a Russian adoption program. Legal representatives for Trump’s father put out a different kind of statement on Saturday, saying the meeting was a set-up concocted by Democratic operatives.
