Sources Tell CNN Trump Isn’t Expected to Get Involved in Tate Brothers’ Extradition — Despite His Past Support

Manosphere influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate may not get the support from President Donald Trump they’re hoping for, as the brothers face extradition to the United Kingdom on dozens of counts of sex crimes, including alleged rape, human trafficking, and child pornography.

The brothers say they’re innocent and are vowing to fight extradition.

The Tates were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Miami over the weekend, as the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service said it was adding additional sex crime charges to the original 21 the brothers faced, bringing the total number to 59.

CNN’s Randi Kaye reported Monday that the brothers may be counting on Trump to intervene, now that they’re back in the U.S. from Romania, where the government there lifted travel restrictions against them for similar charges.

“The Tates are outspoken supporters of President Donald Trump, and hold plenty of sway in the manosphere,” Kaye said. “Just two weeks before they were allowed to leave Romania, Andrew Tate posted this: ‘The Tates will be free. Trump is the president. The good old days are back.'”

Kaye continued, “The White House said the U.S. government played no direct role in bringing them to Florida. Romania’s foreign minister also said he wasn’t pressured. The Tates have repeatedly praised Trump and urged voters to support him, and some members of Trump’s family have shown support for the Tates. In 2023, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted about Andrew Tate’s house arrest in Romania, calling it ‘absolute insanity.'”

“The court hearing today lasted just seven minutes,” Kaye said. “No cameras allowed because it is federal court. The Tate brothers will remain in custody at least until their lawyers meet again on Monday. Their lawyer says that they’ve already spent days in solitary confinement.”

“Now the extradition process itself can take months, depending on what challenges are brought, so we’ll have to see how long that lasts,” Kaye said, adding, “It’s also worth noting…that two sources familiar with all of this are telling CNN that as of now, President Trump is not expected to get involved with the Tate brothers’ extradition case.”
