‘I Told Him!’ Trump Claims He Warned Tiger Woods to Get a Personal Driver Years Before DUI Arrest

President Donald Trump said he was happy to see his old pal Tiger Woods’ struck a plea deal in his DUI case which stripped the golf legend of his driver’s license for five years — before revealing he had been prodding Woods to ditch driving himself for years leading up to his infamous arrest.

Trump told Fox News’ Peter Doocy he had no problem with the agreement while speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday.

“I thought it was very fair,” Trump said. “He’s going to have somebody drive ’em. I told him that a long time [ago], ‘Why don’t you get somebody to drive you?’ So he’s going to have somebody drive him from now on.”

His remark came during a lengthy answer in which Trump defended Woods, saying he was a “great guy” who had battled “great, great pain” for way too long. The president blamed Woods’ lingering back issues on a botched operation by a “bad doctor.”

Trump said:

It’s a very tough situation, because they didn’t find alcohol on him, he didn’t test positive at all for alcohol.  But because of his horrible back — he had, in my opinion, a bad doctor — but he had a back operation that did not work out well, and he is under pain.

And so it’s a tough deal when you’re taking a pain killer, because you’;re under pain, and tremendous pain, and you have a problem and you test positive. He would have told them that, it’s a prescription painkiller.

His answer came a few hours after Woods made the plea deal. Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. who is now dating Woods, flanked the 50-year-old golfer as he entered the Florida courthouse, where he pleaded no contest to reduced charges of reckless driving.

The agreement comes five months after Woods was arrested after he hit a trailer and rolled over his Land Rover on Jupiter Island, FL. Woods was seen on body camera footage telling officers he had just called the president after the crash; authorities later said two hydrocodone pills were discovered in Woods’ pants pocket, and prosecutors obtained his medical and prescription records as part of their investigation.

Woods announced he was stepping away from golf for a “period of time to seek treatment” a few days after the wreck.

Trump on Tuesday told reporters he was “glad” the whole ordeal had been “resolved.”
