Twitter Rips Trump’s Time Magazine Tweet: Still Has That ’Fake Time Cover’ in Storage

President Trump‘s tweet claiming he rejected a photo shoot from Time Magazine because he was only told he would “probably” be Person of the Year led to a bit of Twitter mockery tonight.
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 24, 2017
As some people pointed out, there was that fake Time cover with Trump on it that has gone up in a few of his golf clubs, not to mention the times Trump himself has tweeted about the honor in the past:
So biased: @TIME made 'The Protester' as the person of the year. @TIME celebrates OWS but vilified the Tea Party last year.

"@PatrickMendezNV: They're going to make you their @TIME person of the year in attempt to silence you. They are not smart enough to do that

I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany

Thank you to Time Magazine and Financial Times for naming me "Person of the Year" – a great honor!

Former Time managing editor Richard Stengel weighed in on the presidential tweet:
Hate to tell you but that PROBABLY means you’re NOT Person of the Year. They just wanted a photo shoot. But I’m sure you still have that fake TIME cover somewhere in storage. https://t.co/HkW1XkKxXK

And the rest of Twitter weighed in too:

Time should give it to Hillary, just to mess with him

sorry to hear you lost out on being named Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" to the guy who called to say you were PROBABLY going to be named Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" then yelling out "Bababooey!" and hanging up https://t.co/hzyyI0iw8X

As you read this tweet, keep in mind how much Trump truly values TIME magazine. Fake TIME covers were framed and on the wall of his golf courses, as @Fahrenthold uncovered. https://t.co/7hvV7OsjgD https://t.co/9Vh9VA7bVv

As with nearly every word @realDonaldTrump tweets or speaks, this comment expresses a narcissism and insecurity that has been a toxic mix for our country. My prayer and admonition this Thanksgiving weekend is “resilience.” https://t.co/mtyCxmQZmV
