Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport faced a riot situation on Monday after fights broke out due to several cancelled flights and dozens of angry travelers.
Spirit Airlines cancelled at least nine flights out of Florida yesterday, infuriating a large crowd of stranded passengers. The flyers ended up confronting airport staff about this, and it eventually spilled out into a massive fight that was recorded by dozens of onlookers

Footage from the brawl shows multiple people being detained by police and airport security during the struggle. Broward County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Gina Carter told ABC that there were no major injuries by the time the situation was brought under control.
The flight cancellations happened as Spirit Airlines filed a lawsuit against the Airline Pilots Association over labor negotiations. The airline argues that pilots are refusing to fly in order to put them under pressure, and hundreds of Spirit flights have been delayed or cancelled recently because of it.
“We are shocked and saddened to see the videos of what took place at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport this evening,” Spirit Airlines’s spokesman Paul Berry said in a public statement. “This is a result of unlawful labor activity by some Spirit pilots designed to disrupt Spirit operations for our customers, by canceling multiple flights across our network.”
