A Baltimore landslide swallowed up a number of cars along one city street yesterday in a huge sinkhole. A number of witnesses on the scene watched as literally everything on one side of the street (the cars, the lamp posts, etc.) slid down until they could hear a giant crash. At least ten cars along the road fell int the sinkhole.
One person said, “The whole thing just went ‘boom’ and just went. It’s like one of those big implosions when they knock down a water tank, it’s just like that. Not fast, it was slow and eerie.”
The ground shook like an earthquake, but there have been no reported injuries thus far. The CSX railroad company put out a statement on the landslide hitting the railroad tracks, saying they’ve stopped traffic in the area for the time being. Road crews have set up barriers around the area.
