WATCH LIVE: Senate Intel Committee Hearing With DNI Dan Coats and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein

If Thursday’s Senate Intelligence Committee hearing with former FBI Director James Comey is the “political Super Bowl,” as NBC White House correspondent Peter Alexander called it on the Today show, then Wednesday’s Intelligence Committee hearing is the NFC Championship.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, and NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers are all set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, one day before the highly-anticipated Comey appearance.

But Wednesday’s testimony figures to be quite interesting in its own right. On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that Coats was asked by President Donald Trump to see if he could persuade Comey into backing off an investigation of former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn.

And Rosenstein continues to face questions over his role in Comey’s firing, having written a memo recommending Comey’s dismissal. Reports indicate that he knew Trump was going to fire Comey prior to his writing the memo.

All of this amounts to what should be a compelling day of testimony on Capital Hill involving four crucial government figures.
