Kayleigh McEnany Goes Full Dear Leader Praising ‘Kind, Joyful, Humble’ Mike Johnson and His Belief in ‘God Leading the Way’

Newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson sat with Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany for what appears to be one of the most obsequious and groveling interviews in recent memory.

The Outnumbered co-host and former Trump White House Press Secretary appeared on Fox & Friends to promote the interview and provided some of the most shameless fawning one might see on cable news.

Johnson became House Speaker after a remarkably chaotic three weeks in which the House of Representatives could not function as a governing body because House Republicans could not get their shit together. Out of that chaos emerged a new leader, one who has been a faithful servant to former President Donald Trump and his election denialism.

Johnson, an evangelical Christian, has also clarified in other interviews that his guiding principle is the Bible, which was warmly received by McEnany and Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt, who often delights in signaling Christian virtues.

After playing a brief clip in which Johnson reveals plans to pay for Israeli aid from previously earmarked resources for the IRS, McEnany absolutely fawned over Mike Johnson.

“It was an honor,” she said of the opportunity to interview the new Speaker. “The words kind, joyful, humble, don’t often characterize politicians that I’ve encountered. They do for Mike Johnson; there’s chaos on the Hill. A lot needs to be done. But he had such calm in his demeanor. I really believe he thinks God is leading the way. This will all get figured out. And he is, I believe, here for an Esther-like moment for such a time.”

After a bit of a discussion about his legislative plans, McEnany gushed over a visit to the Congressional prayer room she made with the Speaker. “He said he’s going to start every morning and prayer in that room before the picture of George Washington on his knees and ask for wisdom and guidance,” she revealed in a manner that would eerily feel at home in a fundamental extremist government.

The hagiography and idolatry — combined with the promotion of Christian values — did not seem to add up, given the whole worship of false Gods thing, but elect a Speaker that puts his Christianity front and center, and this is the sort of interview one might expect on Fox News.
