‘Come On, Guys!’ Elon Musk Urges Applause After Trump Shows Flattering CNBC Segment On Laptop in the Oval Office

President Donald Trump began his Friday press conference with Elon Musk by showing a flattering segment from CNBC on a laptop in front of him.

Friday’s presser was to be Musk’s final appearance as a government employee. By law, Musk — the face of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — was only allowed to work for a maximum of 130 days. Musk made his departure official with a statement posted on social media Wednesday.

Shortly before 2 p.m. ET, the press conference in the Oval Office began. Trump kicked things off by remarking that recent economic numbers were “rather extraordinary.” To show this, Trump had an aide place a laptop on his desk and play a video from earlier that day. The video featured CNBC’s Rick Santelli.

“Personal income is up eight-tenths of a percent,” Santelli said during the segment. “That is almost triple the expectations.”

The clip then cut to a later portion of the segment in which Santelli and Joe Kernen continued praising the administration for the recent positive data.

It played for roughly 90 seconds as Trump sat there in silence. Then, the aide took the laptop back so the presser could officially begin.

“Not bad,” Trump said.

Musk then urged everyone in the Oval Office to cheer for the video.

“Come on, guys!” Musk said as he began the round of applause.
